Though more expensive than the last generation, Hisense's U8QG LED TV offers fantastic performance and loads of features for a price that's still reasonable.
The Hisense U8QG stands out as an Editors' Choice because its Mini-LED display achieves remarkable brightness, impressive contrast, and rich Quantum Dot colors that actually compete with OLED picture quality. This TV delivers a high-end, feature-packed experience that becomes an even more compelling value when found at a significant discount. It's a model we can recommend with confidence.
Hisense's new U8 series model for 2025 delivers a brighter and overall better picture than its predecessor, and it provides an expanded feature set for gaming, including 4K 165Hz and both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ gaming support. The U8QG has a buffed-up design to accommodate a new 4.1.2-channel speaker array, though the built-in subwoofer is prone to distortion when tasked with conveying deep bass effects. Overall, the U8QG’s combination of picture quality and features makes it a compelling mini-LED contender, and with prices for all screen sizes having already dropped substantially, it’s also an excellent value.
The Hisense U8QG packs in a lot of performance for the price. It has excellent brightness, and great contrast, and delivers an image that looks far better than you’d expect at this price point.
The Hisense U8QG packs in a lot of performance for the price. It has excellent brightness, and great contrast, and delivers an image that looks far better than you’d expect at this price point. The native 165Hz refresh rate along with low input lag makes it a strong pick for gaming. You do lose a fourth HDMI port, which could be a drawback for setups with multiple devices, but the DisplayPort-capable USB-C input adds some unique flexibility that’s rare to see on a TV.
The Hisense U8QG is great for mixed usage. It looks great in reference conditions thanks to its excellent black levels, exceptional HDR brightness, and vibrant colors.
Searing next-gen brightness. Vivid quantum dot colors. Excellent black levels with only minor blooming. Loads of gaming features. Up to 165-Hz refresh rate in 4K. Good picture processing and HD upscaling. Stylish pedestal design. Solid reflection handling.
Hisense provided us with the 65″ U8QG to review. We’ve been using it for over a month before writing this review. While Hisense did send over this TV, this is not a sponsored review. Hisense did not see this review before it was published, nor did they influence our opinion.
