What is the CE Critic Score?

The CE Critic score is designed to summarize the critic's score from reviewers and publications. Now you don’t have to search for every review and try to get a census of whether a product is right for you. The CE Critics score will quickly summarize what the critics think of a product and what users with real hands-on experience think of a product.

HOW WE CREATE THE CE Critic Score?

Creating our proprietary CE Critic score is a complicated process. We carefully curate a large group of the world’s most respected critics, assign scores to their reviews, and apply a weighted average to summarize the range of their opinions. The result is a single number that captures the essence of critical opinion in one CE Critic score. Each product featured on CE Critic gets a CE Critic score when we've collected at least three critics' reviews.

How does the “WEIGHTED AVERAGE” work?

CE Critic score is a weighted average in that we assign more importance, or weight, to some critics and publications than others, based on their quality and overall stature.

User reviews are weighted average based on the different products within a series. For example - TVs have different screen sizes with-in a series. The reviews are weighted and averaged based on what screen size a user will leave their review.

HOW TO INTERPRET A CE Critic Score?

CE Critic score range from 0-100, with higher scores indicating better overall reviews.

F.A.Q.

Q: Are user reviews included in the CE Critic Score calculations?

A: No. Along with displaying the CE Critic score we also allow users to write their own reviews and display those results as well.

Q. Why is there a CE Critic score and a user score?

A. The 2 scores are intended to give a full picture of the product. We recognize that a user experience can be different than a critic's experience. We will provide both viewpoints to better help making a buying decision.

Q: Well then, can I see all of your grade conversion scales?

A: Absolutely! Some of the conversions are obvious (for example, if a critic uses a 0-10 scale, his/her grade is simply multiplied by ten or if they are using a 5 start scale the grade is multiplied by twenty. Some of the less obvious conversions are displayed below:
