Despite lacking some popular features, Sony’s latest entry-level buds undercut the competition with terrific sound and noise cancellation.

For their price, the WF-C700N offer up an appealing balance of attractive design, good features and a well-judged sound, but miss out on build quality.

The Sony WF-C700N earbuds bring the same top-tier sound Sony has become famous for down to a more accessible price. While they're missing some of the features of its pricier counterpart, they're probably the best ANC earbuds in this price range.

If you are an iPhone user, the Sony WF-C700N is an easy recommendation. But if you are on Android, I recommend you spend INR 1,000 more and go for the Oppo Enco X2 for better noise cancellation, sound, and battery life.

Sony’s WF-C700N earbuds sound great for their price, plus they fit well, have a long battery life, and look good. The trade-offs are middling noise cancellation, odd controls, and a limited feature set, although that’s not unusual in this price range.

The sound quality is good and the added EQ control from the Sony Headphones Connect app is stellar. Battery life falls short of competing buds which can last up to 30 hours with their charging cases. The absence of wear detection is a bummer and we would have liked to see wireless charging on here too. We also hope to see the promised multipoint pairing software update here as soon as possible which will make these buds an even sweeter package.

The sound profile on the WF-C700N is engaging and well-balanced, with a punchy and clean low-end, even-keeled mids, and smooth, non-fatiguing highs. It may not have the resolution and ANC effectiveness of Sony’s flagship the WF-1000XM4, and the battery life could be better. But overall, the WF-C700N offers impressive features and performance for the price.

If you can do without Apple-exclusive features, they’re an excellent alternative to Airpods.

The Sony WF-C700N are good for commuting and travel. Their lightweight build won't put undue pressure on your ears, and their long battery life will last you a long bus ride or flight. Their in-ear design also won't leak any audio to passengers around you. While their ANC does a good job of isolating you from background conversations, it's less good at isolating you from the rumble of a loud bus or plane engine.

There’s no shortage of competition in this price bracket from the likes of Jabra, Skullcandy, JBL, and other earbud makers. But Sony fans tend to be pretty loyal. If all you’re looking for is a relatively inexpensive, straightforward pair of earbuds (and you don’t need strong noise cancellation), the C700Ns clear that bar without any problems.

The Sony WF-C700N are an attractive, lightweight set of earbuds that sound pretty good. These have a couple of marks against them, such as disappointingly ineffective noise cancelation, and a fit that works for some folks, but not all.

Sony has taken everything I loved about its more expensive earbuds and squirrelled it into smaller earbuds, at a lower price. You don't get lossless LDAC or the firm's top-tier DSEE upscaler, but for this money, the audio quality cannot currently be beaten.
