I really enjoyed my time with the Monitor Audio Studio 89's, whether I had music playing or was enjoying a movie night with some freshly buttered popcorn. I can assuredly say that I wouldn't mind having a pair of these for myself.
A practical solution for those seeking an insightful, well balanced sound with a spectacular soundstage in small to midsize listening rooms, where speaker placement may not follow hifi convention
a little bit of care needs to be taken with setup but they aren't particularly demanding of partnering equipment just make sure the electronics are able to show off their strength they are the most detailed and exquisitly timing speakers I've heard thus far for two grand with all bar the most energetic music but that caveat is enough for me to pull them back from my top award
The Studio 89 isn't perfect; it's sufficiently demanding in terms of amp matching that it's probably worth trying before you buy it. If you can drive them to their satisfaction though, this is one of the most accomplished speakers you can buy anywhere near the price.
Monitor Audio’s smallest Studio?series model delivers reference?grade balance, imaging, and scale far beyond its modest dimensions—so long as you treat it like the serious loudspeaker it is.
All-in-all the Studio 89 is a modern-looking, modern-sounding loudspeaker package well worth considering. They are certainly a step-up from the original 1980s Studio models I remember which were, for me, far too much about the aesthetics at the expense of sound quality with the gold dome tweeters and gold alloy cones. Here’s to further Monitor Audio models taking their inspiration from Hyphn.
If you have a reasonable sum of money to spend on a high-achieving pair of compact standmounting loudspeakers, then you are not short of choice. To this shortlist, you should now add Monitor Audio's new Studio 89.
monitor audio Studio 89 speakers this is one of those speakers that well it's a small speaker so naturally enough it's going to sound best in smaller rooms it does have limited base extension and power small speaker but in the right room for the right kind of listener
Looking backwards in order to move forwards is a bold and dangerous policy – but with the Studio 89, Monitor Audio has managed to combine a mildly retro aesthetic with some thoroughly modern engineering to create a speaker that both sounds great and will never be mistaken for any other speaker out there.
