If it’s not apparent to you yet, I LOVE this subwoofer. From the premium fit, finish, and materials to the insane performance, I can’t recommend this subwoofer enough. It’s perfect for my room. If you have a similar room, get it! If you have a larger room, Monoprice has other offerings for you. They are just as price conscience, but they do get much heavier. So you’ll need a friend to help you set it up.
The Monolith 12” THX Ultra subwoofer is a super intriguing entry on numerous levels, and Monoprice deserves a high-five for bringing such high caliber performance to market at a budget friendly price point. For $799, an enthusiast can fetch nearly 100-lbs of sub with an amp/driver combination that produces high-level bass output. Forget raw and boomy power, the 12” THX Ultra has the composure of high-class gear. It can punch and lower the boom with a clarity and powerful tightness that allows for natural and controlled playback, all the while fully carrying the load of a system’s low-end output. Add to that three possible variations of port tunings, and the sub presents quite a bit of room-friendly flexibility. This is definitely a sub worthy of shortlist status – cost-conscious buyers take note, the 12” THX Ultra is your gateway to serious home theater performance.
Entry into the crowded internet-direct subwoofer market is a bold move from Monoprice, but the performance of these subs will surely make some waves and breed some fierce competition.
Monoprice is a rare company, especially in 2021, that is willing to put the customer first. While Monoprice has priced their speakers aggressively, putting together a high-performance Atmos system is still costly. So do your research, then create your own real-world demo in your own home, but do it with the right company, which is to say one that not only makes a solid product but does their utmost to ensure their customers are able to enjoy it.
Just from glancing at them, they might look like bruisers that are geared for low-frequency effects for movies, but their superb accuracy makes them ideal for dedicated music systems as well. There may be other subs around the same pricing that can produce more SPL, but few can achieve the loudness levels that these do with near picture-perfect behavior. Indeed, in our brutal testing, their sophisticated digital processing restrimonolith woofer insigniacted them from going into ranges of excursion that would have placed the drivers in harm. These subs are bulletproof, so users don’t need to worry about over-driving them; they can’t be over-driven.
