But look: the Naim Uniti Atom is incredible. We are often very sceptical of products that cost as much as this - once you get past a certain point, the returns can diminish quite quickly. But at every step, we found ourselves wowed by just how good the Uniti Atom was. The sound quality was extraordinary, the design and usability were life-changing. We couldn't believe just how quickly it became the center of our daily music life – the first thing we turned on when we came into the office, and the last thing we turned off before we left. It's a landmark product, something that Naim Audio should be insanely proud of, and it's an easy decision to make it the newest winner of our Editor's Choice award.

had absolutely zero issues with the Naim Uniti Atom. The package is everything I could want in a piece of kit that costs a hair shy of $3,800US. The functionality is complete. It has power and style and grace and everything I threw at it sounded brilliant. I could wish for a more beefy XLR headphone output, or even a 1/4″ on the front panel, but that’s the only thing it leaves on my wish list. And, for this weird and wildly constrained desktop implementation specifically — again, something that is entirely different from the typical big-rig, bat cave recluse solution, with all the components neatly arranged and available for swapping and upgrading — I’m really not sure what more I could ask for. It’s like Naim made this just for me.

Make no mistake, the Naim Uniti Atom is a $3800 component. At the same time, I’d be hard-pressed to find a pre-amp, amp, DAC, streaming system that sounds as good for less. If your tastes are high-end in equipment and music quality, adding a pair of speakers gets you a wonderful system for a study or a bedroom or a smaller living space.

This Naim is high quality in every way. From the toroidal transformer inside, to the way the volume dial feels when you turn it to even the remote which is more useful than most. It has analog inputs so if you have a turntable with a phono stage you can attach and listen. I hooked up my Michel Tecnodeck and it sounded wonderful. Rich, big, and again, with soul and emotion and that was with a cheap $150 phono stage. I mean, it was very very very good. The bass performance is superb and superbly tight, and the Atom added slight meat to the bones on the Klipsch all while keeping it clean and clear without bloat (though tubes will be warmer and fuller). Makes it bigger, fuller and with more 3 dimensionality yet it doesn’t have a mid bass hump nor does it sound dark or muddied. It’s the opposite as it sounds clean, detailed, smooth, big, and has some serous rhythm going on with a little excitement in the top. Many call it PRAT and I will just say yes, it does that very well.
