It's still a professional-grade reference monitor for film, graphic design, and now even medical industries. It's still a premium product, but at 55 to 66% of the previous cost, it's accessible to many more people. Or maybe it's more accurate to say it's slightly less niche.

It will never be a mainstream product, but thanks to its versatility and better value than the Pro Display XDR, I think it will be a surprisingly popular option.

The Apple Studio Display XDR is a game-changer for creative professionals, finally bringing a 120Hz Mini-LED panel and Thunderbolt 5 to your desktop. It delivers the fluid performance and inky blacks that Mac users have been craving, resulting in Apple’s most capable display yet. However, at $3,299, it is a massive premium over the standard model, and the persistent limit of a single upstream port remains a frustrating hurdle for multi-Mac setups.

The Studio Display XDR is very expensive, so it’s not going to be for everyone.

The Studio Display XDR is a great option as a cheaper, smaller Pro Display XDR.

The best HDR performance in a monitor you can buy. The excellent adjustable stand now comes standard. Incredible built-in speakers.
