I wish Audeze made a non-gamer version of this headphone, as I believe the “gamer” tag really undermines what this headphone is capable of for music listening. The LCD-GX delivers a very good, warm tonality (likely the best of any full-size LCD), a solid and comfortable build, as well as technical performance that I personally think is adequate at its $899 MSRP. If Audeze made an LCD-M (M for magnesium) out of the LCD-GX to replace the LCD-2 Classic’s spot in the LCD-series line-up I think it would become one of the best options under $1000.
The LCD-GX is a true audiophile headphone first and foremost, and that is what I appreciate about Audeze’s take on it: they’re not trying to hide it. The inclusion of two different cables (one with a microphone and one without), also help the LCD-GX to do double duty as an audiophile headphone or a gaming headset. You have an incredible amount of versatility with this one product. The best part: it does both phenomenally well. I mentioned that gamers might find the $400 price tag of the Mobius a bit steep. Well, if that’s the case then some gamers might certainly find an issue with the LCD-GX’s $900 tag. However, at least you’ll find solace in knowing that you’re also purchasing incredible true-audiophile-grade headphones for less than what most [audiophile headphones] go for (generally speaking, $1000 and up).
Rather, these headphones are also fantastic for hi-fi use and can do a great job when used for mixing in the home studio. The headphones are not only super-robustly built and superbly manufactured, but they also convinced with a range of features. The gooseneck microphone with its on/off switch impressed us with its sound, but unfortunately, it makes a lot of crackling sounds when switched on and off. In terms of sound, the LCD-GX otherwise offers exactly what you would expect from open Audeze headphones. Here a sound with fine resolution in the treble meets subtle bass and offers a detailed mid-range reproduction between these frequency ranges. The well-balanced and near three dimensional sound of the Audeze LCD-GX is perfect for audiophile gaming fans with the necessary coins who are looking for a headphone solution for HiFi and home cinema and/or who would like to acquire a high-quality tool for their home studio at the same time.
Are you a serious gamer? Do you care about having fun and also having amazing sound quality? Then the LCD-GX is for you. It is a little heavy, but not overly so, at least not in my opinion. I seem to be able to use it for hours without fatigue. Team Audeze’s LCD-GX is a gaming branded headphone intended for gamers. This is the top tier gaming headphone. Previously, it was Audeze’s Mobius Now, it is the Audeze LCD-GX.
So, yes, they’re extremely expensive. But despite the lack of some features you as a gamer may expect (wireless, surround and so on), you absolutely get what you pay for here. Incredible sound quality, impressive build quality and a sense of depth and space that no headset – not even Audeze’s £400 wireless Mobius gaming cans – can offer. The LCD-GX demonstrates that all those extraneous fluffy features are just extraneous fluffy features. With such a remarkable sound as this, you won't miss them. If you’re looking to upgrade your setup for the next generation of consoles, and you have deep pockets, these are for you.

The $900 Audeze LCD-GX is the most expensive gaming headset we've tested, with the best audio quality we've heard in the category.

The LCD-GX is a headset for audiophiles who happen to be gamers (or not). It’s a great gaming headset, but it’s probably overkill for most gamers.
