The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones offer excellent build quality and very detailed, balanced sound with tight bass. They're also very comfortable and have slightly more cushiony earcups along with a detachable-cord design (three cords are included).
As an all-rounder, the ATH-M50x is very good. As a style icon, it’s ok, but at value for money, it is virtually unmatched. Energetic sound with control is what I loved most, but then you have the combination of the perfect looks and outstanding ATH build quality, and this headphone is a winner.
If the thought of phones losing their 3.5mm sockets and just about all headphones going wireless makes you sigh, check out the Audio Technica ATH-M50X - they are lively, have an extra hit of bass and make for a particularly involving listen if you prefer electronic music to introspective singer-songwriters. Just don’t buy them expecting the totally neutral sound of a studio monitor
Once the best choice in the ATH-M line, the ATH-M50x is still a good choice for casual listening and recording audio. With its three cables and proprietary connectors, it's a mixed bag, especially compared to the Bluetooth version and the ATH-M40x. Find it at the right price and you won't regret it for the good sound, but these days it's an awkward sibling.
Great for neutral listening. The Audio-Technica M50X offer a well-balanced audio reproduction with the right amount of bass. They have decently balanced mid-range that reproduces instruments and vocals accurately, and their treble doesn't sound too sharp or recessed. However their closed-back design might limit a bit their soundstage, but their sound quality will not disappoint.

The M50x is a great pair of headphones for bass heads but also works for most genres and even does okay as reference headphones in a pinch.
