In my view, the manufacturer has done just about everything right with the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2. These comfortable and stable Bluetooth over-ears offer a fast-charging, very long-lasting battery, high-resolution audio codecs, multi-pairing and extensive personalisation options via the app. I award full points for the precise, balanced sound and the excellent price/performance ratio of the attractive overall package. My congratulations to Japan!
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 is a worthy successor to the previous model. Functional and practical improvements across the board make it an enticing option. High build quality, excellent sound profile, and detailed app functionality. Battery life is also massive. All this at a reasonable price point makes the ATH-M50xBT2 one of the best Bluetooth DJ headphones available today.
The improvements bring the new model right up to date in terms of battery life, USB-C and support for LDAC codec. In addition, the sound ofd the new version has been retuned to produce a slightly wider soundstage and a sound that’s even more detailed and spacious but still without that brilliant neutral tone. The lack of support for Qualcomm’s apt-X HD codec may disappoint some people but that’s about the only criticism I can level at such a superb pair of wireless headphones. Highly Recommended.
There’s one part you need to make peace with before buying. They have no active noise cancellation, which a significant hole in a wireless headphone’s feature list these days.
A must-have pair of headphones for anyone who cares a lot about audio quality - the Audio Technica M50xBT2 are some of the best sounding headphones you can buy. They're not the best looking and they don't have noise cancelling but they're a top choice amongst audio professionals for a very good reason.
An old favorite gets some revitalization, allowing you to switch between your smartphone and the studio with the same headset. The sound quality and connectivity are great, and so is the 10-minute quick charge on the ATH-M50xBT2. This is an easy pick for most people, but it's not perfect.
Their sound profile is very neutral and not as boomy or bass-heavy as the original Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT. If you prefer a different sound, you can customize it with a graphic EQ and presets in the companion app. However, they have a poor passive soundstage performance and are prone to inconsistent bass and treble delivery.
