The Audio-Technica ATH-M70x is an above-average set of studio headphones. The emphasis is on studio use, and in that regard, they are a decent performer. And a notable upgrade from many cheaper studio headphones. But if you are coming in expecting that familiar Audio-Technica sound, these will not deliver.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M70x has a much more consumer-oriented sound than studio monitors offer, but it's still a great sounding pair of headphones. The price has come down a lot over the years, which makes for a pretty attractive option, even if it is a little barebones.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M70x are geared towards a crisp representation of instruments and vocals but lack a substantial amount of bass for the average listener. That, combined with their poor isolation, makes them less versatile than the cheaper Audio-Technica ATH-M50x or Audio-Technica ATH-M40x for everyday casual use.

The M70 are accurate and great for long sessions - not a common combination- so perfect for mixing. The best just got better.
