The X3100i is the follow-up to BenQ's highly successful X3000i and is the newest addition to the X Series line of gaming-focused projectors. The X3100i projector has big shoes to fill, and I'm happy to report it does an excellent job.
Designed primarily for use with gaming consoles, the BenQ X3100i offers short lag times, support for 1440p/120Hz input, and granular video presets that should appeal to many types of gamers.
The BenQ X3100i is marketed as a gaming projector but this very capable 4K HDR beamer is also a great choice for film fans thanks to its bright and detailed picture. A compact design, intuitive setup and extensive gaming features that include very low input lags round out a solid package.
If you are serious about setting up a gaming den with a dedicated space for a projector, the BenQ X3100i is a great investment. Gaming performance is excellent, and you will not have any complaints about image quality or features. The gaming projector also comes with plenty of I/O for compatibility with high-end audio setups and AV receivers. While this is likely not for everyone, anyone with deep enough pockets will be hard-pressed to find anything better in this price range with the performance and features that the X3100i offers.
BenQ's top-of-the-range 4K gaming projector is not only the best they've ever produced; it's also one of the best 4K projectors on the market. Its suitability for each individual will largely be dictated by available space and budget, so it won't be for everyone, but for those who have ample supply of both, it's a safe bet for the best 4K projector. Whether used primarily for gaming or home cinema, the X3100i will have its owners pinching themselves and wondering, 'Is this image really coming from a projector?'
If some of you were waiting for a test of the Gaming functions of the BenQ X3100i, I'm sorry to disappoint but you’ll first have to offer me one of the latest PS5 or XBOX and then I promise that I will do my best to add this part!
The BenQ X3100i is great for watching movies. Its contrast is good, its brightness is great, and it has a wide color gamut, leading to deep blacks and a vibrant image when watched in a dark room. It's bright enough to look good in rooms with a few lights on. Its pre-calibration accuracy is excellent overall, so there's no need to have this projector calibrated to get accurate colors.

The BenQ X3100i doesn’t stand out as the best projector in any one area, but its admirable performance in both cinema and gaming setups makes it a serious double threat and one that provides high value for users with diverse needs.
BenQ’s X3100i is one of the best gaming projectors out there right now. Its crisp resolution, expansive feature set, and top-tier image quality make it an absolute dream to game on. It’s not flawless however, some of the design choices are questionable, and its bulky size does make it challenging to mount on your ceiling. But, if you’re after the best gaming projector around it more than makes up for it in the areas that count.
The BenQ X3100i is a gamer’s best friend, offering split-second gameplay with a super clear picture at impressive scale. If you’re looking for the big-screen experience you’ve certainly found it here, though there aren’t too many spec differences separating it from the previous model.
