I think the case could be made that the 2nd generation T5 was the best reference/monitoring headphone available on a cost/performance basis. Having said that, I think the 3rd generation has raised the bar and is one of the best reference/monitoring headphones available on that same scale as performance is even higher and the price is not.
Overall, the T5 3rd Gen headphones are among the best of Beyerdynamic’s new flagship products. It looks luxurious, has a strong build, feels comfortable to wear, and most importantly, delivers excellent audio quality. With that, we’re highly recommending it.
As I said initially, the Beyerdynamic T5 (3rd Generation) is a good looking, well built, lightweight headphone that’s comfortable for long listening sessions. They have just a little too much bass emphasis for my taste, but I couldn’t help but fall for the T5’s detail, naturalness through the midrange, astounding soundstage, and imaging. If you’re looking for a warm, closed-back headphone with hi-fi chops, then you should check this one out!
I could see myself listening to these headphones for many hours, testing them out with a whole plethora of tracks. For $999 I would say this is definitely a worthy upgrade from the T5p and is a great experience for a closed-back headphone.
Born entertainers that are endlessly listenable, the T5 (3rd Generation) reaffirm the long-standing best-in-class reputation of Beyerdynamic’s flagship model

But the opposite tonality of the T1 original model. Smooth, relaxing, but able to give you more or less warmth of clinical appeal if you so desire it.
