Even my headphone snob self must admit it, a 420-kbps Bluetooth data-pipeline can transfer an engaging listen, free from the constraints of stationary headphone equipment. Wireless headphones I’ve heard in the past, albeit in lower price ranges, seem to have a certain sameness quality in their sound profiles. I’m far more accustomed to Bluetooth audio having a sonic “tastes-like-margarine” quality, sounding lighter and thinner. But Px7 S2 gave me surprising levels of detail and resolution from its combination of an advanced codec, B&W DSP tuning and a unique driver build paired with the passive isolation and pads around the ear-cups.
Everything about it has been improved, including ANC, bass depth, and soundstage. Its main design is also an enhancement that offers more comfortability and a more durable build overall. The app brings some good features and customization too, even if I would have preferred a full EQ. However, the bass and treble adjuster do their job well and add more to the already enticing sound signature that makes the PX7 S2 one of the best-sounding wireless headphones currently on the market.
The Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 are for ANC headphone shoppers who a) put audio fidelity at the top of their must-have list and b) are willing to forgo some of the flashy features the competition has to offer.
Soundquality-wise, it’s one of the most audiophile, high-resolution, and impressive Bluetooth on-ear-headphones around. However, especially for acoustically recorded music, a more neutral and decent alternative with less showmanship, like the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, might be your choice on the long run. Our advice: Listen yourself, and with all music genres that you would ever listen yourself!
If you’re looking for general purpose headphones that make just about any type of audio sound impressive and full, but that’s a slight step down from sounding fully immersive, I found the Px7 S2 lives up to the hype. The headphones look good, sound great and have a high-quality build.
the reality is that B&W's PX7 S2 have more competition than ever. And while they aren't the best-of-the-best at active noise-cancellation, they separate themselves with their unique look and big bold sound. If those are two things you're looking for, you can't really go wrong with these noise-canceling headphones.
I’ve been quite impressed by the PX7 S2s, so much so that I’d take them even over my trusty Sennheiser Momentum 3 headphones. There are still valid reasons to favor mainstream picks from Sony or Bose: they provide airy comfort and unmatched ANC. But if sound and substance are what you’re after, these headphones demonstrate that Bowers & Wilkins can still hang with the best of them, with an extra dash of elegance and sophistication that you won’t find from most competitors going for mass appeal.
Excellent sound, terrific wireless performance, great aesthetics and effective noise cancellation – the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 headphones improve upon the PX7 in a number of ways. Sony and Bose beat them for noise cancellation, but the Px7 S2 offer one of the finer listening experiences at their price.
The Px7 S2 is exactly what I'd expect from a second-generation product, refining more than defining. Being in the upper echelon of the headphone market means that consumers will be pickier and more demanding of features. While the Px7 S2 delivers improved sound quality and a feel and finish that justifies the $399 listing price, it needs a little more oomph to appeal to the wider audience.
Keeping mostly the same look with some slight cosmetic changes but also upping the sound quality. These are well crafted and don’t feel janky by any means. It supports various codecs so whether you are Android or iOS you can’t go wrong. They do go for $399.99 which puts them in the retail price point of the Sony XM5.
It supports Bluetooth aptX for playing high-resolution music from sources that support it, something Apple doesn’t offer. On the other hand, Apple offers its spatial audio feature, so figure out what is important and take your choice.
The high-end Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 headphones look, feel, and sound fantastic, which makes their less-than-impressive noise cancellation capabilities forgivable.
Bowers & Wilkins' pricing strategy alone means they aren’t for all – but if it's class-leading detail and openness in acoustic tracks you want, they'll serve your needs.
This ain't it, friend. The competition among ANC headphones in the $200 to $400 price bracket is too high to accept sound quality this poor. You're better off looking for something else other than the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 unless you're looking for a fashion statement.
If you're looking for the ultimate headphones from Bowers & Wilkins, you might be happier with the newer (and pricier) Px8 headphones. However, if you're searching for a pair of premium over-ear headphones with supreme sound and superb build quality ...the B&W Px7 are everything you're looking for. And they arrive with a smaller price tag to boot.
Bowers & Wilkins is known for its exemplary audio performance, but the Px7 S2 shows it is rapidly catching up in the technology and comfort stakes, too. The Px7 S2 are arguably its most comfortable wireless headset yet, with premium materials allowing for elongated periods of use. The noise cancellation is also more accurate in expelling unwanted outside interference. Yes, these over-ears come with a premium price, but their capabilities more than justify it.
