Cambridge Audio AXN10 Network Player

For a while now, the Bluesound Node 2i has been my budget streaming reference, but to my ears, the Cambridge Audio AXN10 knocks it off the top spot. The only real cloud on the latter's horizon is the Chord Mojo 2/Poly, but this is one-third more expensive and not quite the same product category, as it's technically 'portable audio'. So welcome then to this very capable new streamer which hits the spot sonically, is well made, is easy to use and has the excellent StreamMagic platform. Do hear this if you're in the market for a great network music player without breaking the bank.

What results is a streamer that joins a small crowd of affordable devices that demonstrate an elegant balance of user friendliness and out and out performance to make them stand out from the pack. As noted, in absolute terms, the Cambridge Audio comes up short against the honed perfection of the BluOS interface but it’s a testament to the experience that Cambridge Audio has in this field as to how close it gets. And the trade off is that this little box of tricks sounds better; indeed there’s not much under a grand I’d choose over it. Cambridge Audio became one of the early front runners of affordable streaming with the NP30 and they still are with the MXN10. The result is that this talented little box has to be seen as a Best Buy.

Turn your system into a wireless streaming system easily and with very agreeable results. The MXN10 is this close to ideal.
