My time with the X4700H went smoothly. I was able to install and use it easily with no need for manuals or internet research. Denon has been building AV receivers for decades and it’s obvious that they have figured out how to make the process easy and intuitive for everyone. From installers to DIYers to end-users; it’s hard to imagine anyone not being satisfied with it.
The AVR-X4700H is the second 9.2 channels AV receiver in Denon’s arsenal and to be honest it finds itself in a tough spot not because it is not good but because surprisingly it faces very high internal competition from its smaller brother, the AVR-X3700H. More than a few times I have seen people asking which one of the two to go for and if the extra cost of the X4700H is worth it.
The Denon AVC-X4700H is an excellent mid-range AV receiver that includes everything you could possibly want from an amplifier at this price point. It's attractive and well-made, and while the design hasn't changed in years, it's served Denon well up to now. It also has a comprehensive set of connections, especially now that Denon has addressed the HDMI 2.1 bug, although there's still only one input. However, there's always eARC, and the HDMI ports support every format imaginable, so no matter what you connect the X4700 has you covered.
You instantly dissolve in the atmosphere of the film – there are no questions about the naturalness of the voices, or the realistic effects, or the sense of scale.
Capable of a wall-wobbling performance, and bristling with advanced connectivity, the AVC-X4700H is both a home cinema powerhouse and talented musical hub. There’s just one catch...
The first AV amplifier to support 8K and 4K/120fps isn't just playing games. Powerful and entertaining, it's nothing less than the future of home cinema.
