The Devialet Mania is a high-end portable speaker that's obviously not for everybody. It's quite expensive, not super-rugged and, if you're looking for a smart speaker, not ideal since it can't be integrated with Google Assistant. But there's no getting around that the Mania sounds great for its size and has a cool factor that most other speakers lack. Like the company's other wireless speakers, the Mania is a speaker that's meant to be heard and seen. And yes, you'll want to play it in front of your friends.
A robust build that brings the bass is the main take-away here. And to see Devialet diversifying its range to appeal to a wider audience is surely a sign of the times. In the end the Mania is a capable portable speaker, although its bass-heavy approach won't suit all genres, while its high asking price will still be offputting for some – although this is affordable by Devialet standards.
For some listeners, the Devialet Mania will be pretty much ideal – we all know someone who’s all ‘bout that bass, after all. But if you prefer a properly balanced and realistic sound, this speaker might prove to be too much of a good thing.
The Devialet Mania is a powerhouse of a small speaker, with a gorgeous design and punchy, full-bodied 360-degree sound. Its hi-fi roots are clear, but this is not a speaker for purists - there are lashings of bass and a rich, full-bodied sound that commands centre stage wherever it is. There is volume to spare in pretty much every situation, and yet it never sounds pushed. If you want loud, this speaker will give it to you, and considering its small size, that's no mean feat.
Undeniably expensive, this elegant Bluetooth speaker ups expectations for what is possible when it comes to sound quality from today's portable music systems.
The Devialet Mania is decent for listening to music. Voices and lead instruments are reproduced with relative accuracy, though the lack of treble means that the overall sound is a bit boxy and dull at times. Still, you get a decent amount of rumble in the bass range for such a small speaker, which is handy if you love bass-centric genres like EDM and hip-hop. There are some bass and treble adjustments available through the Custom preset in the app.

Portable, with useful battery life. Excellent outside. Unlikely scale and authority of sound.
