The sound quality of the Edifier S1000W would be more of a surprise if I hadn’t already reviewed the company’s Stax Spirit S3 headphones. As with those headphones, I found myself going back and listening to some of my favorite songs, just to hear how nicely the S1000W treated them.

The Edifier S1000W1 is a fabulous active speaker system for the money.

While not quite an all in one hifi system, the Edifier S1000W handily connects wirelessly with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as to standard digital (optical, coax), and RCA analog. You can use it as a smart speaker with Amazon Alexa, or use the Edifier Home app in concert with Apple Airplay 2, Tidal, or Spotify. If you don't mind the size, it's a highly versatile pair of speakers.
