The Q15 retains the same design as the Q7, but it is noticeably smaller, making it a great choice if you need a portable DAC. You get 4.4mm and 3.5mm ports, up to 1600mW of power to drive demanding headsets, USB-C and coaxial connectivity along with Bluetooth 5.1 and all the high-res audio codecs you want, and all-day battery life. Combine that with AKM DACs that deliver a terrific sound and wide soundstage that brings the best out of your IEMs and headsets, and the Q15 is a standout choice.
I think the FiiO Q15 brings a lot to the table for its asking price. It has great build quality, good usability, and loads of output power and it sounds fantastic. Its versatility shines whether on your desktop or paired with your phone or DAP. The inclusion of a screen is a thoughtful touch, providing valuable information with just a glance. If you seek a portable DAC/Amp that effortlessly handles a diverse range of audio demands, the Q15 is an excellent choice. I wholeheartedly recommend it and am giving it our coveted recommendation award.
The Q15 is highly feature-packed and well-built, and it does not let down in the sound department and noise control is excellent.
For those who stream from their phones, the Q15 serves as a portable powerhouse and the strong technicalities allow it to perform well with a wide range of gears.
So, long story short: the FiiO Q15 sounds great, has more than enough power that you might (ever) need, and features options that are even absent from the Q7 (PEQ or mobile mode) making it the best DAC/AMP I actually own, in the sub-$500 territory. Sure, the Q7 is better, but if you don’t own a Focal Utopia or a Meze Empyrean, the Q15 will do equally good on most headphones, for half of that price.
I must congratulate FiiO once again for producing a product that is an overachiever and exceeded my expectations. I expected it to perform better than it did, especially since it is essentially a miniature audio component. The other FiiO products I've used in the past included their portable digital players, which included at least one very affordable player and one of their top models. Despite the FiiO Q15's relatively low price, I consider it a product that deserves an audition. Recommended.
The FiiO Q15 is an excellent option for audiophiles seeking a powerful and versatile portable DAC/Amplifier. Its impressive hardware specs, including the flagship AK4499EX+AK4191 DAC chipset and XMOS 16-core processor, offers a decent audio reproduction. The sound signature boasts a well-balanced presentation, with a controlled bass response, detailed midrange, and smooth yet resolving treble. Moreover, the spacious soundstage enhances the listening experience with clear and accurate imaging. All in all, the FiiO Q15 is a noteworthy device that offers great specs, versatility, and portability for an impressive price.
The FiiO Q15 pushes the boundaries of portability. Compared to its peers, the EQ capabilities alone justify the purchase, complemented by compelling audio performance. Vivid IEMs like the Simgot EA1000 pair especially well. While more portable than old source/DAC/amp stacks, it faces competition from the convenience of dongles. Its true potential shines in quiet environments, transforming the listening experience. Overall, the Q15 impresses by effortlessly powering any IEMs or headphones, making it a versatile tool for audiophiles on the go.
I’ve been impressed with a couple of Fiio peripherals recently, and the Q15 might be my favorite so far. From its sleek look and feel to its effortless sound reproduction, the Q15 is more than well worth the money. If Fiio could find a way to include more features, like the menu on the Q7, then this is one of the best portable DAC/Amps you can get. It surpasses the iFi Gryphon to me, as it’s more powerful and more elegantly designed. If you’re looking to pair a reliable DAC/Amp to your phone, then the Q15 is the best option that won’t set you back a ton of money.
My main concern is the fact that the Q15, to me, is simply too bulky/cumbersome for any sort of serious portable use.
That said, I do think it’s a perfectly feasible desktop option and the fact that you can use it over Bluetooth makes it fairly valuable.
