The simplicity of the Grado results in a headphone that is uncannily good at being a headphone because it’s not trying to be anything else at the same time
The Grado GW100X are undoubtedly a niche set of headphones, designed primarily for home listening, but with the wireless connectivity normally associated with portable products.
As far as wireless headphones go, the GW100x is one of the best performing, and certainly most unique models on the market at this price point. (I have yet to listen to the HifiMan Deva, so I don’t have much to compare it to) Not everyone will find the Grado open-back design particularly appropriate for the subway ride home to Brooklyn. But if you’re a fan of the brand, or a lover of acoustic genres and you want some room to move around, the Grado GW1000x will deliver audiophile sound in a convenient package. And if you’re looking to listen more critically, the wired connection will provide you with the fantastic transparency that makes the brand so famous.
Grado remains one of audiophiles' go-to brands, and the company's wireless open-back headphones target a niche audience. Sound quality is excellent for Bluetooth headphones, though, and the option for wired listening is much appreciated. That said, the company's wired models are much cheaper and provide a near identical listening experience.
The Grado GW100x cover the fundamentals, and in some style - but it takes a little more than that to properly compete in the wireless over-ear market these days.
