I was not ready for how truly excellent the Gryphon Audio Designs Diablo 333 integrated amplifier was going to be—what a fine world-class music maker it is. This is the first amp I have had in-house in some time that makes me question my marriage vows to my reference system. The Diablo 333 can power anything, while producing amazing lifelike dynamics, the blackest blacks, and the brightest colors.

I think the 333 is different enough that if the 300 was not the one with your speakers the 333 could totally change your mind about Gryphon amplifiers. I do feel sad the 300 is being retired, its still a fantastic amplifier and it’s a shame the 300 can’t continue as the smaller brother to the 333, like the 120 was to the 300. Only Gryphon know the financials of making something like that happen. The 333 very obviously takes things on in some key and specific sonic areas and looks cooler too.

I conclude with an urgent recommendation not to miss out on the Diablo 333 experience. The Danish über-integrated is a statement about which I can’t find anything to objectively criticize. The flawless user interface, the austere, unadorned look, the technical implementation, the sound: it truly doesn’t get any better than this.

Yes, it’s an investment, but Gryphon Audio’s Diablo 333 powerfully reflects the insignia the company so proudly celebrates and displays across all its products. Diablo 333 soars high as the overlord of the skies. It truly is one of the very best amplification products, be integrated or not, that money can buy.

I have no doubt this could be an "end game" component for many audio enthusiasts. It could also be the solution for someone accustomed to top-notch performance but looking to downsize their multi-component system without compromise. When the time comes for me to make that change, the Diablo 333 will unquestionably be on my shortlist.

The Gryphon Diablo 333 is an end-game product. While it is not the most expensive product in The Gryphon family of amplifiers, it does pose the question: Why spend more? It has no practical limit in terms of the power it can deliver to any speaker one can imagine. The Gryphon folks have managed to deliver an amplifier that is as bombastic as one could ever want while being as delicate as a butterfly when the music demands it. At no time did I find myself thinking ‘I wish this amp would do more.’ This is a state-of-the-art product for a realistic price. I will hate to see this review sample going back.

Given that a (1) Gryphonist (yours truly) whom (2) knew well the sound quality of the previous Gryphon Audio Designs flagships (Mephisto solo and Pandora), could still be (3) surprised by the improved sound quality of the Diablo 333, (4) raised within him the interest and curiosity over the latest Gryphon Audio Designs flagships (Apex mono and Commander), and (5) retail at only around ten percent [10%] of the total retail of their latest flagships,…was already a given testament… that the DIABLO 333 is a BARGAIN!
