What we usually want from an IEM? Good details, good clarity, engagement and it should not sound harsh or uncomfortable. MP145 has superb details, excellent clarity and much better control over sharpness than S12 pro and Talos.
Overall, Hidizs MP145 is one fantastic IEM at its current price point. I would say these are the best value for money IEMs especially for its authoritative Bass profile and the technicalities. If you are in look-out for a great technical IEM at a lesser cost, look no further. These are easier to drive providing an excellent value for the money. And likewise, nothing is too perfect in the world. Here is no exception. The cons listed are based on critical examination and should not bother most users. I highly recommend this IEM for what it is and if you have already obtained this IEM during the Kickstarter, is it not a steal already? From the plethora of IEMs coming and going, MP145 is going to stay.
But more importantly, within the relative homogeneity of the sound produced by the current planar drivers, the brand wanted to introduce variations to increase the quality of the sound produced by these transducers. In this case, the size of the capsules is larger, something that gives them an image of greater magnitude. On the other hand, the ventilation ports on the outer face help to generate a more airy, expansive, volatile and three-dimensional sound. The level of precision is very high, as is the level of resolution, and the music is more crisp, descriptive, individualised, rich, lush, but also organic, highly dynamic, detached, clean, expressive and with a more natural and accurate sense of timbre than its competition.
I’m quite excited for the Hidizs MP145 to reach more people since I think it has a good chance of satisfying audiophiles. With three tuning filters to choose from including a nice default sound signature, the MP145 may be a newcomer but it already has a lot going for it.
Build quality is excellent, design is nice and if bulky as hell, the big shell deserves a purpose by embedding an excellent 14.5mm planar driver. Bass are excellent, highs are good but the piece of resistance here are the voices, which outshines almost all the competitors playing in the same price bracket. The only flaws? Slightly week low/highs mids, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed with an EQ, or the provided tips.
The Hidizs MP145 are perhaps the best IEMs Hidizs has released so far. I have tried nearly all of them, and in terms of tuning, the MP145 remain the most balanced in the lineup. However, there are still improvements to be made, and I hope in future models, Hidizs can make the lower-treble sound smoother while the upper-treble peak is handled more gracefully. All that being said, the MP145 get a lot right. The bass has a fun tuning, the mids are inoffensive, and you need to pay quite a bit more for superior resolution.
I might have been praising the MS3 and the MS5, but the HIDIZS MP145 is merely decent and not class leading for a planar. I still like the 7Hz Timeless better despite having an over the top airiness, plus it is not as large. The more mid-centric and over-damped treble air of the MP145 might be welcome to those who thought the 7Hz Timeless might have too much in either end of the frequency spectrum.
