It has a dense, enjoyable and fun presentation with warm bass and bright treble. It’s not too hard to drive, and it certainly has what it takes in terms of being a dependable closed-back headphone for the price.

I’d describe the Sundara Closed-Backs as high-end headphones that are reasonably priced and won’t cause you any annoyance. They’re great for picking apart all the little details of recordings, but unlike many audiophile headphones that can do this, they don’t sound too bright. They’re comfortable, they look tastefully cool (I think), and you can drive them pretty well with just about any source device. Easily one of the best choices for listeners stepping up from mass-market closed-back headphones.

In the end, the Sundara Closed-Back headphones are probably one of the most appealing and fun-sounding affordable headphones that you are likely to find for the money. That alone makes them worth a listen if you are in the market for a headphone in this price range. You’ll likely need to search at double the price to get a noticeable improvement in sound quality.

Of course, it has some limitations, like less separation and airiness in the soundstage, but it makes up for it by providing a more impactful bass response and warm midrange. The wooden ear cups give the Sundara a great look too. This is definitely their best closed-back headphone, and it lives up to the Sundara name.

The relatively affordable HiFiMan Sundara planar magnetic headphones have a detachable cable and excel at conveying details in the mids and highs.
