At the time of its original release in 2018, the HiFiman Sundara was listed everywhere at $500. Even at their original price, I think the Sundara is an incredible value. At their current price, the Sundara is the easiest open-back headphone to recommend. Full stop. Between its solid build, agreeable tonality, and superior soundstage, HiFiman is raising the bar for sonic satisfaction while putting similarly priced options to shame.

Based on the sound alone, I have no problem wholeheartedly recommending the Hifiman Sundara to anyone who’s in the market for a smooth, laid-back, inviting headphone, who doesn’t need anything with a huge amount of bite. The Sundara does lovely things for a headphone of its price, and I think it’s something any audiophile should check out.

An entry-level set of planar magnetic headphones with a not-so-entry-level performance.

Their sound profile is very neutral and well-balanced, although lacking a bit of thump and rumble due to their open-back design. Their soundstage is perceived as wide and spacious, which helps them create an immersive audio experience. They also deliver sound consistently, so you shouldn't need to readjust them constantly.
