With well-recorded music, especially jazz, pop, and acoustic, these Hifiman earbuds will absolutely transport you to the recording studio or concert space. They’re also comfortable to wear for long listening sessions.
The Hifiman TWS800 has excellent genre compatibility, it is a great all-rounder so you can listen to wide range of genres. Listening to EDM and bass-dependent tracks with the TWS600 was not very optimal however, you won’t have that problem with TWS800.
While HiFiMAN has certainly nailed it when it comes to sound quality, they need to improve their touch controls dramatically to make them viable replacements to regular buttons. The TWS-800’s accessory package is pretty thorough, so no complaints there. But at $300, I can’t help but feel that I shouldn’t have any major complaints at all, and unfortunately that simply isn’t the case (no pun intended). If you don’t mind the fact that the TWS-800 has touch controls, and are simply chasing the maximum audio performance out of your truly-wireless IEMs, then give it a listen — the TWS -800 is about as good as you’re ever going to get. If not though, your attention is probably best put elsewhere.
I like the idea to provide a choice for better fidelity and Hifiman demonstrates a different set of features to competition such as better amplification and audiophile-quality drivers that make a difference.
They are the best true wireless headphones I’ve ever heard, bar none, even without AptX or LDAC support — and that’s comparing to Jaybird, Jabra, Sennheiser, RHA, and more. I love true wireless earbuds and own more than a dozen pairs that the TWS800s universally put to shame. HIFIMAN is onto something great here with its Topology Driver and built-in amplifier, and there is genuine merit to creating a sideline in the True Wireless market aimed specifically at audio enthusiasts. At the same time, there is still a lot of room for refinement to take the whole package from good to great. With a price of $299, they feel too expensive, but found on sale or bought eyes wide open, they offer an audio experience like no other true wireless earbud I’ve heard to date.
