The U8H is the best Hisense TV I’ve seen to date. If you’re in the market for a budget-friendly, mid-range TV that doesn’t skimp on picture quality or features, the U8H should be at the top of your list of candidates.
The Hisense U8H offers tremendous brightness, contrast, and color performance. Its display of 4K content in SDR, HDR, and Dolby Vision is as good if not better than that of TVs that cost two or three times as much. It’s also an excellent choice for gamers, and it sounds great to boot. Where the U8H struggles is with cleaning up lower-resolution content and resolving some low framerate motion.
Forget Samsung vs. LG. The real battle for the best TV -- one most people can afford -- is between two up-and-coming TV brands, TCL and Hisense. Both use mini-LED technology to achieve awesome picture quality for much less than the cost of OLED. When I tested the Hisense U8H, I found that it outperforms just about every other TV in its price range. Its appeal is anchored by a super-bright picture with incredible contrast, a combination that makes it shine with HDR sources and in bright rooms.
It's an excellent TV for watching movies in a dark room thanks to its high contrast ratio and great local dimming feature. HDR content looks incredible as it gets incredibly bright and has a wide color gamut, so the latest movies look incredibly realistic and lifelike. It's a great TV for watching shows or sports in a bright room, but because it has a narrow viewing angle, it's not a good choice for a wide seating arrangement as the image degrades when viewed off-center. Finally, it's an amazing TV for gaming thanks to its HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, FreeSync support, low input lag, and fast response time.
The Hisense U8H provides the best example of value for a TV, nailing all the important factors that lets it perform outstandingly well in a majority of living rooms.
Excellent picture. Easy-to-use Google interface. Mini LED backlighting makes for great contrast. Vast majority of apps are available, plus easy casting via Chromecast built-in.
The Hisense U8H harnesses the power of Mini-LED to produce bright, vivid pictures. All content doesn’t get the glow-up, however, and you might notice some issues with upscaling and color banding. That said, this is still a good value for the price.
Hisense's 65-inch U8H 4K TV comes with enough perks to make the quirks worth contending with. If you're living in a smaller apartment space or have a direct line of view to the display, it's a great option that can save you thousands of dollars, especially if you're weighing more expensive options.
The Hisense U8H is the latest model to arrive from the budget TV maker and represents an attempt to pack as many features as possible into a set that’s very competitively priced. With a mini-LED backlight, the U8H delivers high brightness along with rich color courtesy of Quantum Dots. It’s also a fine match for next-gen gaming consoles, with features like 120 Hz display, VRR, and ALLM on tap. Budget TVs keep getting better and better – a bit of good news during a time when people have less money to spend – and the Hisense U8H is a perfect example of that trend.
Bought this tv with high expectations of quality. After 3 years of service the color vanished from the middle section of the tv. Have tried factory resets and no change. Out of warranty so I am throwing a $1000.00 television in the electronics dump. I also own a Hisense U6K that I purchased for my Man Cave and I will be replacing the U8H with it. I was smart enough to buy a five year warranty on it.
