The LG G5 offers stunning SDR images thanks to its new panel technology and superb image accuracy out of the box. Images look sharp and detailed with the improvement in the colour of white adding to an image that is balanced and natural with strong blacks and excellent shadow detail retrieval and motion that is correct for 24fps playback. Full screen brightness is improved massively over the G4 which allows the G5 to perform well in bright rooms with no loss of image detail or black crush. The new Filmmaker Mode Ambient setting also assists in much better bright room viewing experiences that still retain the creative intent.

The LG G5 is amazing for mixed usage. It looks fantastic in a dark room thanks to its perfect black levels and punchy colors. You also barely lose any image quality when you flip your lights on, and the TV has the reflection handling and brightness needed to overcome glare. The TV has a plethora of modern gaming features, and it's fully compatible with all modern consoles and even pairs well with high-end gaming PCs. It's even a great option for large seating arrangements due to its wide viewing angle, so this is a TV that does it all.

The LG G5 OLED TV has the best generational uplift in terms of peak brightness that we’ve seen, and takes the top prize for brightest OLED TV of 2025 (so far). It’s almost as good for gaming as it is for watching TV and film, and comes with a range of new AI features that improve image and audio customization. We would have liked to have seen some changes to the basic design over the previous gen, and the remote is showing its age relative to the competition, but besides that it remains a great premium TV.

The LG G Series has always been an impressive OLED TV, but with the introduction of the G5 and Primary RGB Tandem technology, it’s reached new heights.

LG G5 marks a visible leap in brightness for WOLED, and as usual, this innovation is reserved for the premium ranges, G5 and M5, with no indication of when the technology will trickle down to the cheaper TVs. We have also yet to see MLA introduced in the C series, so if you are hoping to bring +2000 nits of brightness into your living room, you must prepare to invest in one of the top-tier models again in 2025.

The LG G5 is in almost all regards a stunning set and a leap forward for OLED TV technology – it’s just a shame that a nasty Dolby Vision flaw holds it back

LG's flagship OLED always draws high praise – and the OLED G5 is the pinnacle of classic OLED performance. Sure, the sound is a little thin – correctable with a soundbar – and the new remote's layout is perplexing, but that's all nitpicking against one of 2025's most impressive TVs. Whether you're watching TV or movies, or putting your hand to gaming, the OLED G5 is a master at all without compromise. The generational leap in brightness is impressive, but it's the naturalistic pictures and unmatched black-level control that delivers pictures so sumptuous that they'll be hard to beat by any flagship – OLED or otherwise.

LG’s flagship G5 OLED TV makes a dramatic picture brightness leap over last year’s G4, and also offers a range of enhancements and new features with no year-over-year boost in price. The brightness increase is supplied by a new-gen OLED display panel, and it makes the G5 a highly flexible TV that can be used in a range of viewing environments, including brightly lit rooms. A new webOS 25 smart interface provides family-friendly, AI-enhanced customization, and gaming performance is boosted with 4K 165Hz support. The LG G5 is undoubtedly a pricey TV, but it’s also one that offers a fantastic combination of features and performance for the money.

A return to form for LG's premiere OLED TV. The G5 delivers the brightest performance of any WOLED TV, the picture processing is up their with the best, webOS offers plenty of entertainment options in an easy to fathom form. The audio quality is better than the previous model but you'll still want to consider a soundbar to boost it.
