If you’re dead set on wall-mounting your next TV and you’re vying for a top-shelf OLED, the answer is clear: buy the G2. The G2 was designed to resemble a work of art, and if you stick it up on your wall, it will.

The LG G2 OLED offers excellent visual performance, boosted by brightness that rivals can’t match and excellent gaming features. It’s designed for wall-mounting though – there’s not even a stand in the box – and if that’s not your plan then the cheaper C2 series offers almost identical quality for less.

The G2 Evo Gallery edition is a great OLED TV with a super thin bezel that looks especially nice on the wall. Our only caveat is that newer RGB OLEDs have eclipsed LG’s older WRGB OLED image technology.

Thanks to its nearly infinite contrast ratio, it displays deep blacks with perfect uniformity in a dark room, making it an exceptional choice for watching movies in a dark room. It's also one of the brightest OLED panels ever, making it a great choice for watching TV shows in a bright room. It also has an incredibly wide viewing angle, so it's a good choice for a wide seating arrangement. It's also an excellent choice for use as a PC monitor. Finally, it has an impressive selection of gaming features, and it delivers a superb gaming experience overall.

Brightness has been a long-time OLED shortcoming because of the need to preserve color volume and mitigate OLED burn-in. But the LG G2 OLED TV with second-gen OLED evo technology makes a major improvement. There’s no way to know now whether this panel will truly prevent burn-in in the long-term, though our testing raised no concerns.

The problem with reviewing TVs is that sometimes you get one that’s so deeply enjoyable to watch that you kind of, you know, forget that you’re supposed to be working and end up just watching TV for a bunch of hours. That’s what happened to me with the LG G2 OLED Evo TV.

Picture-perfect quality in a premium TV package… one of the best OLEDs currently on the market, but for quite a pretty penny.

Having made its high-end G series of OLED TVs relevant again in 2021 by giving them a clear picture advantage over the ever-popular C series, LG has repeated the trick - with knobs on - with 2022’s G2 range. The G2 OLED’s big story is that it takes the latest (WRGB-type) ‘Evo’ OLED panel and adds in a new heat sink element not present in 2021’s G1 series. This might sound like a mere technicality on paper, but it actually allows LG to bring enough extra brightness to the table to take OLED picture quality to places we once never imagined it would be able to go.

The G2 is truly a thing of beauty: while clearly targeted at the no-expense-spared crowd, it will tempt many to step up to it from the C2, despite the high price

With its upgraded evo technology and new heat sink, the G2 Gallery Edition punches through the brightness limitations associated with OLED displays while retaining the vivid color, stunning blacks, and off-center viewing that have long been the prime appeals of OLED.
