The Monolith M1070 are headphones for those looking for an affordable way into the more audiophile region of the market. They are fairly neutral and revealing in their performance, but do need a DAC/amplifier/portable music player to get the best from them.
think so, the M1070Cs are definitely an at-home relaxing and chill pair of headphones. When paired with the right system they sound spectacular. The massive size and weight may put off some listeners, but the comfort and quality gained is impressive. At $400, options for headphones are everywhere, but I think the M1070Cs hold their own and then some. They are worth a listen!
The bulky Monoprice Monolith M1070C headphones use planar magnetic drivers to deliver a wonderful sound signature with excellent clarity throughout the frequency range.
At its price point, the Monoprice M1070 faces some stiff competition from the HiFiMAN Sundara; there are enough differences between them that they will find their respective audiences, but the chances are rather low that most people will like both of them equally.
If you can get past the sheer heft and loose grip of the M1070C, it'll reward you with its excellent sounding frequency response. Keep in mind that while the cable it ships with is good quality, and the velour and lambskin pads feel decent, the metal frame isn't as strong as it ought to be.
Planar magnetic headphones often deliver an audio performance that can surpass traditional dynamic driver models, but that extra oomph comes with a hefty price tag. Monoprice’s Monolith M1070C effectively drops the price of entry to planar magnetic, but they don’t live up to the promise of better sound.

A planar magnetic headphone at this price is quite unusual, and this one delivers super-accurate audio reproduction with a very, comfortable fit.
