For years I’ve been looking for a receiver that could do everything I wanted - no compromise - just check the boxes. For me the Onkyo TX-RZ70 meets those needs in a way no other receiver can. It performs well across any material I asked it to render, and did so largely in the background - exactly as you want a receiver to do.
The Onkyo TX-RZ70 AV Receiver can deliver brute strength for movies and still caress your music collection with clean wide dynamics and subtle nuances.
The opening credits score of M:I – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023, 4K UHD) fills every speaker in the array and the Onkyo manages to lift every instrument out of the massive orchestra. It swoops you up in the energy and no sooner has the sequence ended than the growling helicopters’ engines almost dislodge you from the seat. With the help of Dirac, the RZ-70 can produce a mean and hellishly accurate bass response. But it’s not as if the other elements suffer. The dialogue voices preceding the credits are laser-focused, clear and ambrosial, while effects steering in the height channels is keenly directional and targeted.
Onkyo's big-boy receiver is a thrilling, detail-rich cinematic performer, and impressively accommodating when it comes to sources both wired and wireless.
