Wrapping up the Q Acoustics Concept 40 are the kind of floorstanding speakers that can give you an excellent performance both for movies and music and are ideal if you want quality without spending a fortune.
The Q Acoustics Concept 40 is an extremely able loudspeaker, and excellent value even at £1,000. It is amazingly well rounded, having practically no obvious weaknesses, and a whole lot of strengths. Right across the range – from detail and dynamics to tonal balance and musicality, it scores very highly indeed.
The catch is that the Concept 20 will show you what is wrong with your electronics if you give it the chance. It isn’t ruthless and neither will it render big chunks of your music collection unlistenable but a speaker this able demands electronics that are similarly well sorted.
If there’s one flaw to the Concept 20s, it’s that on their own they’re a little light on bass. That’s fairly common in bookshelf speakers, and certainly not a flaw large enough to detract from a whole-hearted recommendation.

Though we’ve heard some better-performing speakers over the years, the Q Acoustics Concept 20 is an excellent speaker on its own.
