The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are another excellent step forward for Samsung. They take the best features from the Buds 2 and the Buds Pro and put them together into a better-fitting, more comfortable package with excellent ANC and sound quality. It should be no surprise that they’re an Editor’s Choice and top recommendation for Samsung users.
The Galaxy Buds 2 didn’t need to blow the doors off to be a success. They’re destined to become the default pick for many Android phone owners — especially once the sales, discounts, and bundles with new phones start hitting. They sound perfectly good, fit comfortably, and perform reliably. But above all else, I’m taken with just how compact and low-profile these earbuds are. Just like its latest foldables, the Galaxy Buds 2 are evidence that Samsung isn’t sitting still. It’s hitting on all cylinders.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 don't rattle the world of audio wearables, but they do their job well as a pair of everyday earphones. Sound quality is very good and bound to please most ears, and the noise-cancelling edges out every other pair of Samsung buds except the Buds 2 Pro.
I think Samsung finally nailed it with the Galaxy Buds 2. They are comfortable, offer solid battery life, quality sound, decent ANC, and they are priced about right. Sure, you can get competing earbuds for less, but not with Samsung’s name stamped on them, and probably not sitting right next to the phone you are about to buy down at your wireless carrier’s store. For Android users, they’re a no-brainer.
Combine the software tweak with a faster chip, and you've got a slab that aspires to do laptop duty — especially after adding in accessories like the Magic Keyboard and the latest generation Apple Pencil. On the screen front, the 12.9-inch Pro features a Liquid Retina XDR panel with mini-LED backlighting for great range and contrast. The Pro also houses a solid, all-day battery and robust speakers. Around back, there's one 12-megapixel wide and one10MP ultra wide camera, plus a flash and LIDAR scanner. The ultra wide 12MP front-facing camera is still oriented to the portrait side, making you a little off-center on video calls if you're docked into a keyboard. It's also not a light tablet, weighing in at a pound and a half, but perhaps that's to be expected from such a powerful machine.
The latest model in the Galaxy Buds line costs $150 and features active noise canceling along with a lighter, more compact design that makes the earbuds comfortable to wear for several hours.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 are a huge improvement over the originals, offering active noise cancellation, better sound quality, and a great fit. While they’re not the best true wireless earbuds out there, they’re easily one of the best for Samsung smartphone owners who want perfect synchronicity with their Galaxy gear.
Samsung's newest earbuds pare back the premium of the Buds Pro in favor of color, comfort, and a lower price. They're excellent on their own and a consummate addition to Samsung's growing earbud lineup.
Taken on their own, the Galaxy Buds 2 offer a whole lot for $149. They look gorgeous, sound great, feel fantastic and can survive several days of everyday use on a charge. But when you consider the many great alternatives out there — not to mention the Buds 2’s unreliable controls, so-so noise cancellation and Android-only features — they become a tougher sell.
The Buds 2 Pro are an excellent addition to Samsung’s excellent bud lineup. Are they $100 better than the standard Buds? In a majority of cases, I’d say not really, no. The money gets you improved ANC, better sound and some more battery life. Those are welcome changes, but taken as a whole, the specific improvements feel like a $50 upgrade, if I had to put a specific number on it.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro should be the go-to earbud for anyone that has bought the last couple generations of Samsung Galaxy phones. They offer an amazing fit and deliver a wide array of convenient features that you wouldn’t find outside of pairing an iPhone and Airpods Pro.
The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 isn't a breakout set of earbuds, but it does its job well as an everyday headset. The sound quality is sure to please most listers and the noise cancelling, while not the best, is quite good for the price. Even still, you might find it hard to justify this compared to the more advanced Galaxy Buds Pro and more comfortable (and affordable) Galaxy Buds Plus.
They're small and lightweight, making it easy to put them in your pocket or bag when you're on the go. They also have a comfortable, stable in-ear fit and have an ANC system that can block out the low rumble of bus and plane engines as well as ambient chatter around you. Unfortunately, their continuous battery life of under five hours may not be enough to get you through your trip without pausing to recharge them.
