The Samsung Q70A (QN55Q70AAFXZA/QN65Q70AAFXZA) lineup delivers the bold and punchy HDR you’d ever want from a QLED TV, all at a great price. A robust smart platform and cutting-edge features complete what’s a fantastic overall package.

f you want a new Samsung TV and you don’t want to go all-in on the company’s flagship model, the Q70A is a decent compromise. It offers more upside than the Q60A but isn’t quite as impressive as the Q80A, namely when it comes to brightness. The best thing I can say about the Q70A is that it feels appropriately priced, especially now that prices for these models are coming down.

The Q70A is certainly no slouch when it comes to cinematics, either. Firstly, the Quantum Dot part of its designation sees Samsung sandwich a layer of nanoparticles between the panel and the Dual LED backlight, boosting both brightness and the colour gamut beyond what you could hope to see from a conventional LCD panel.

Thanks to its high contrast ratio, it's decent for watching movies and very good for gaming in the dark. It's also suited for watching shows and sports in well-lit rooms, as it gets bright enough to overcome glare. Its fast response time delivers smooth motion in content like sports and video games, and its low input lag makes it feel response when gaming or connected to a PC. HDR looks decent, but it doesn't get bright enough to bring out the brightest highlights, and it lacks a local dimming feature to improve the contrast.

Samsung's Q70A line of TVs doesn't have the most impressive contrast we've seen, but it's by far the fastest in terms of input lag, making it ideal for gamers.
