For folks who love high-end sound quality but lack the funds to go wild on the best true wireless earbuds, the CX True Wireless are a great buy. As long as you can get along without a few features like transparency mode, and are willing to buy some third-party ear tips if the sound or fit doesn’t work for you, I think you’ll be really happy.

The Sennheiser CX True Wireless are a worthy upgrade compared to their predecessors, yet they’re even cheaper than the CX 400BT and many other true wireless earbuds on the market. They offer excellent audio performance, great connectivity, and a decent battery life. Despite not being sold on the design, these buds are still well worth checking out.

The Sennheiser CX True Wireless are a versatile, reasonably priced pair of true wireless earbuds. They don't excel at any one thing, but they reliably check most of the boxes you'd want in a low-to-mid-range pair of buds.

The audio quality was very impressive and I kept picking up these earbuds when I wanted a loud classic rock session to jam out during my commute. The subtle design is easily overcome by awesome audio performance, excellent comfort, and long battery life. You can pick up the Sennheiser CX 200 True Wireless in black or white for $129.95.

As an update of the CX400BT, it’s more arguable on which one is superior. The sound signature has a lot to offer, with a wide soundstage and a balanced timbre with a ton of customization due to Sennheiser’s Smart Control EQ. There are many true wireless earphones out there with the same price, but the CX true wireless will probably be the most consistently satisfying one you’ll hear. That housing shape might deter you if you have smaller ears, but in turn, you’ll get a rich timbre with great detail.

Out-of-the-box, they have a somewhat warm, bass-heavy sound profile that adds thump and rumble to EDM and hip-hop tracks but can muddy some vocals and lead instrumentals. Their underemphasized treble response can also veil and muffle higher notes. Thankfully, their companion app features a graphic EQ that allows you to tweak their audio reproduction to your liking.

Interesting in-app features add value for money, but the sonic tuning needs work if Sennheiser’s most affordable proposition is to challenge at this level
