The IE 600 is probably the most credible-sounding monitor I have tested from Sennheiser in a while. Granted, I have not heard the rest of the new releases but compared to their classics the dynamic driver tuning is relevant, modern, and more engaging.
That’s what the IE 600 really is, the perfect blend between the reference IE 900 and the super fun IE 300. If you want a bit of both worlds, the IE 600 is the IEM to go for.
“Insert single-DD IEM is the best single-DD even though insert possible deal breaker that’s inevitably there for single-DD IEM” are apt words from someone on a certain Discord server I frequent. Unfortunately, the IE600 doesn’t buck this trend as a consequence of its awful stock tips and average imaging. But it is one step closer to the fabled, single-DD endgame in my opinion. Now, whether the community or Sennheiser knows what's best for an IEM will be reflected in the IE600's sales figures, but I hope it performs well because it would be very interesting to see where Sennheiser takes their single-DD platform with the benefit of community input. The IE600's already a very solid IEM, and I’d say it’s worth giving a listen if the cons I’ve outlined aren’t things you index for as heavily.
The mids and highs are also sweet and natural, making this one of the best IEMs in this price range for pure accuracy. If you weren’t into the size of the past IE models, the IE 600 doesn’t change anything, but that doesn’t mean they can’t offer any comfort at all. With the IE 600, Sennheiser has made their ideal mid-fi IEM and offers serious competition to the more established choices in this price range.
I had a feeling that the Sennheiser IE 600 would be really good. Yet I was surprised at how good they actually are. It’s too easy to say that you get the sound of the IE 800 S, just with more pronounced bass. Because you do get that, but at the same time there are better dynamics and more life across the frequency band, and at the same time the earplugs seem more “musical”. The new Sennheiser earplugs therefore seem a MUCH better buy.
The Sennheiser IE600 are deeply impressive as a demonstration of what’s possible given few budgetary constraints and even fewer concerns about ‘fashion’. They're very traditional wired headphones, yet mix in some slightly different ideas, and the end result is incredibly hard to fault.

Deeply impressive authority and musicality from an uncompromised and uncompromising pair of in-ear monitors.
