The Shure AONIC 50 noise cancelling headset is a premium solution to your work from home and commuting woes. Large removable earpads lengthen the lifespan of the headphones and are easy to clean. Noise cancelling is excellent as is functionality and comfort. The biggest drawback of these headphones is the price.

There are some gaps in specification compared to their most obvious rivals like the Sony WH-1000XM3, but where it really counts - sound quality - the Shure AONIC50 need no excuses made for them.

You want excellent sound: While The Shure Aonic 50 are one of the best, if not the best-sounding wireless headphones on the market, they’re a pair for the audiophile and are priced as such.

Shure's noise-cancelling cans might be expensive, but thanks to reliable day-in-day-out performance we think it's one of the best-sounding pairs of headphones in this price bracket. Shure sure knows sound.

The Aonic 50 are stunning headphones. The design and finish is top notch, they’re comfortable to wear, and their balanced performance will have the most demanding audiophiles smiling. However, they don’t have the battery stamina of prestige rivals and they don't fold for travel purposes. But if you can live with such foibles, you’ll sure as heck enjoy wearing them.

Shure’s first stab at a pair of Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones is a good effort but there is some room for improvement

Shure is a fantastic headphone company, and I do hope they stick with this line. Sony and Bose are multiple generations into their lines, and if Shure keeps at it in time, there is no reason they won't be able to match them. It’s a solid first attempt but lacking somewhat in features. However, if you do find them at a lesser price than those aforementioned ANC headphones then they could represent some excellent value for money.

Their out-the-box sound profile isn’t especially neutral, with boomy bass and slightly overemphasized treble, but they can be adjusted through a parametric EQ in their dedicated companion app. Unfortunately, their bass response is heavily influenced by their positioning and fit, and they don’t offer a very spacious listening experience, although that’s normal for closed-back headphones.

The Shure Aonic 50 headphones deliver excellent audio performance in a comfortable over-ear design, but their noise cancellation is merely good for the high price.

Shure Aonic 50 has perhaps the best sound quality of any noise-cancelling headphones if you want a detailed sound that makes the most of hi-res streaming services. As a result, it can reveal flaws in older/worse recordings and lower-quality streams. That aside, it's an absolute pleasure to listen to
