Elegant looks with very good overall performance makes the LUMINA V the best performance-for-dollar speaker I’ve yet heard from Sonus faber. Even more amazing is that they’re building them in Italy for this price.

Based on sonic performance alone, though, the Lumina V earns its asking price any day of the week. When you throw in niceties like the leather cabinet covering, the attractive wood-finished or gloss-black baffle, the magnetically affixed grille, and the fact that the whole kit and caboodle is handmade in Italy, for goodness’ sake, the Lumina V seems like a ridiculously good value.

The name Sonus faber conjures up visions of exotic speakers priced at a level that will buy you a reasonably nice house in some places. But a full 5.1 package from the company's new Lumina line will cost you less than a modest patio upgrade.

It would be simplistic to argue that Sonus faber's new Lumina III is the wild child of the family, even though there is some evidence to support that contention

Sonus faber did not try and beat physics, rather leverage their technology to control as many small details that are inherent in the design of any loudspeaker regardless of size, shape, or expense. To me, this is the only viable approach to making an entry-level loudspeaker that, within the scope and scale of the loudspeaker's design, performs at an extremely high level. The cherry on top? The Lumina V is wrapped up in fine, Italian cabinet work that makes them look as good as they sound. I give the Lumina V my highest recommendation.

Play to their strengths (and don’t expect big-room scale) and the Sonus Faber hit far more than they miss.

Vocals can really shine through the Lumina I, but you need to find the right balance with your amp and sources.

You can live with the fact that other speakers are better in some areas than Lumina III. For the small floor-standing Sonus faber speakers do not intend to stand in the shadow of the competition.
