The WI-1000XM2 is a convincing all-round music companion. The functionality has been optimised in some areas compared to its predecessor, but in other areas it has also been slimmed down (aptX HD), yet it is still extremely comprehensive. The device we tested for use with a mobile device also played on a high level in terms of sound and convinced us with its effective and flexible noise cancelling. However, this comes with an increased sales price of 329 Euros (previous model: 279 Euros). In short: an excellent but not entirely inexpensive travel companion.

The Sony WI-1000XM2 cut out a lot of bass noise including bus and train engines. However, these earbuds aren't the most comfortable and can fall out. These headphones also reduce the noise of low rumbling engines like buses or trains. If you forget to charge your headphones, you can use also them passively with the included audio cable.

The Sony WI-1000XM2 are among the most effective in-ear noise cancelling headphones available. Noise-cancelling performance is excellent and despite not being intended for running, they work well enough. While sound quality is mostly good, they're undone by a treble performance that's on the forced side
