SVS really raises the bar on what a subwoofer in this price range ($500-600) can offer with the SB-1000 Pro. It is a brilliantly designed little subwoofer with features and performance belying its budget price.

The SB-1000 Pro is the sort of product you see from a company that is at the top of its game. SVS can afford to make this, its most affordable subwoofer, as good as it is, and as packed with features as it is, because the models above it are indeed more capable in tangible, measurable ways. But SVS has surely shrunk the gap between the SB-1000 Pro and the step-up SB-2000 Pro (versus the SB-1000 that it replaces) and in the process created a sub that’s small yet truly mighty. This is a subwoofer that’s spec’d to get down to 20 Hz, and indeed it does exactly that, in my room, because “physics”... i.e. careful DSP tuning that gives it a super well-behaved response once you factor in room gain. And then it adds the full power of the SVS App, which takes customization of this compact sub to a whole another level.

I’ve been a huge SVS fan for many, many years, and they still make quality subwoofers that outperform a lot of their competition in a given price range. The SVS SB 1000, in my opinion, is a fantastic value.

The SVS SB-1000 Pro is a cracking entry-level subwoofer that not only delivers an impressive performance, and affordable pricing, but also sports features usually only found on more expensive mid-range models. The sub itself is simply designed and solidly built, with a redesigned 12-inch driver and upgraded amplification. The result is a precise and controlled performance, combined with a surprising amount of depth considering its diminutive dimensions.

For all its charms, there’s no denying that the SVS SB-1000 Pro is still relatively expensive. If you want a good subwoofer without the additional bells and whistles, like app control, then you have plenty of options. We discuss a couple of them below. You don’t have to spend half a grand to get great bass, so as good as this subwoofer is, there are definitely more affordable alternatives. In addition, if you already own an SVS SB-1000 (the original) you won’t be gaining much from upgrading here.

Audiophiles won’t find many sealed subwoofers in this price range that offer the combination of a 12-inch driver, 325 watts of power, and the ability to go as deep as this one does. I have spent hundreds of hours of listening to this subwoofer and there wasn’t a time where I felt like it was lacking low end for my music in any tangible or audible way. With any subwoofer, it can be a bit difficult to get set up for the first time if you don’t have any plugs close to your listening position due to the shorter length of the power cord, but once you have it set where you like it, I’m certain that the bass provided from it will bring a big smile to your face.

Small but perfectly formed, this powerful sealed sub delivers deep bass from minimal space. Add in the Bluetooth control app, and at this price it's hard to resist.
