The TCL Q75H is fair stab at a premium soundbar and sometimes capable of vigorous and thrilling performance. But it also arrives with a couple of caveats. We’d like to see more made of a Wi-Fi connection for network-based streaming, for example. The sonic compromises should not be discarded, but neither do they disqualify the package from recommendation. The Q75H looks good, the build is certainly commensurate with the product class, and the app and control options are well honed. It’s therefore fairly priced at £799 but keep in mind that there is robust competition in the under-£1,000 category, and that’s without mentioning the ’bars which have had their prices slashed since launch. We also suggest you keep our reviews of the Sennheiser, Samsung and Sony soundbars in the same price region firmly within your sights.

TVs can be expensive, but the 75” TCL QM7 is worth its price. With the holiday season coming up, there are bound to be outlets that offer the television at a great deal. Even at full price, though, it's worth it. Previously, I felt like I was playing video games on a television (because I was), but now I feel like I have my own home theater, and every experience I’ve had so far has been deeply immersive. I don’t foresee how I can ever go back.

The TCL Q85H is an impressive soundbar for mixed usage. It's versatile thanks to its wide support of most audio formats and wired connectivity. Its full-bodied sound and tools, such as room correction, EQ presets, and sound enhancements, round out the package. Its up-firing drivers mean it can properly reproduce Atmos content without downmixing. On the downside, its wireless connectivity only consists of Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay 2.

Luckily, the TCL Q85H Q Class 7.1.4 Channel sound bar system as a whole still provides a bodily audio experience and is capable of producing high-quality sounds as a complex, yet simple package. Setting the bar on my entertainment stand was not a deal breaker for me, nor is the inclusion of two lackluster supplemental speakers, but it's still worth knowing for anyone purchasing the product. The value in this sound bar system comes from the ease of use, the excellent sound bar and all its features, and the booming subwoofer; those alone feel worth the asking price.

The TCL Q85H offers a taste of that “home theater” sound at a fairly affordable price tag. But its non-ideal channel balance, lack of fine adjustments and slightly glitchy performance with certain sources were hard to overlook. If the TCL Home app were to get some updates with more customization options, the Q85H would get my recommendation, but in its current form, it’s not quite there yet.

The TCL Q85H 7.1.4 soundbar system is supposed to be the brand’s flagship audio product, but it fails to show the kind of performance that would warrant a high-end price tag.
