That said, it is not a TV for everyone. Gaming performance is outright poor, viewing angles still trail OLED, and the pricing is very high. At $10,000, this TV exists in a very narrow niche. It needs a price drop.
The TCL X11L proves Mini-LED can compete at the very top end, delivering class-leading brightness and color without relying on the new RGB backlight approach. It’s expensive, but it offers a compelling glimpse at where premium LED TVs are headed.
I have no problems admitting to you that the X11L is the superior, more futureproof machine right now. It's amazing. It's like an OLED without any of the OLED drawbacks and represents a huge leap in mini-LED tech. If you are in the market for a TV that will suit your needs today and tomorrow, the X11L from TCL should be at the top of your shopping list
What do I think about this TV overall? And you know, like I mentioned, this gives you absolutely the best contrast out of any mini LED I've ever reviewed, and it's not even close. It is an absolute blowout victory for TCL. And that alone, in my opinion, makes this the absolute best miniLEDD ever created. I mean, between the contrast and the insane color and the insane brightness, this is for watching TV in movies, without a doubt the best mini-LED ever created. And again, I don't think it's even close. I think this is a far and away victory, crushing victory for TCL. However, it's not perfect for gaming. It's just terrible. And it also has some issues still with off angle viewing and just motion performance in general, making this not the best TV for everyone.
On paper, the TCL X11L reads like a checklist of everything enthusiasts have been asking for. Extremely high peak brightness, an enormous number of local dimming zones, full Rec. 2020 color capability, high refresh rate support for gaming, and a new processor designed to actually make use of all that hardware. What matters more is how those specs translate into real-world viewing, and that’s where the X11L truly delivers. This is easily the best TV TCL has made to date, and it very much feels like a statement piece, price point included.
The TCL X11L is an amazing TV for a home theater. Its impressive local dimming feature delivers outstanding black levels, with almost no distracting haloing around bright highlights.

The TCL X11L. It's a triumph and will probably remain a legend just as the Sony Z9D did back in its day.

Based on my experience with it over the past couple weeks, though, the TCL X11L SQD-Mini LED TV is poised to be the best TV of the year.
