Given the retail price of 270 bucks, the competition is a bit too strong: Bestsellers Sony WF-1000XM4 and Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 offered incredible functionality (Sony) and truly audiophile sound quality (Sennheiser). If you manage to grab the Yamahas for much less than the aforementioned being ready to tweak the sound a bit, you might be really happy with them.
I am a strong believer in a pair of headphones for every occasion and use. I would not buy these to be my main headphones, as I think there are better and more comfortable all-rounders out there for similar amounts of money. However, if I was looking for in-ear, true wireless where noise cancelling was my main concern, I would 100% buy these. The noise cancelling is top-notch, and the audio quality is a bit better than what I would expect for $299.
Even at the currently discounted price of $250, the Yamaha TW-E7B are a tough sell. They have good audio quality, good comfort, decent battery life, and good design. However, the ANC performance leaves a lot to be desired, which in this price range is a cardinal sin, especially considering the pedigree of the competition. Besides, most of them also have good audio quality, so Yamaha isn't breaking any new ground here.
It offers solid sonic performance and features, but is slightly held back by software limitations and not-so-competitive noise cancelling for this price bracket. A good effort then, and there's enough here to keep me keenly interested in the next revision.
ith the TW-E7B, Yamaha has made a respectable attempt to make its mark in the premium segment. They do it very well, the sound is energetic and entertaining, and the earbuds have the right features. Including a good fit and overall good usability.
The Yamaha TW-E7B true wireless earbuds deliver rich bass depth with excellent balance in the highs, but we expect more effective noise cancellation for their premium price.
