Movie tie-ins are nothing new, but every once in a while a product comes along that feels like it was designed for collectors first and marketers second. That's exactly the impression I get from the new Klipsch x The Odyssey Limited Edition Bluetooth Speaker.
Limited to just 2,500 units worldwide, this isn't simply a speaker with a movie logo slapped on it. Klipsch has taken its well-regarded Music City Series Detroit portable speaker and transformed it into a premium collector's piece inspired by the legendary sword of Odysseus. With its distressed leather-inspired finish, weathered detailing, and brass accents, it looks more like an artifact from an ancient adventure than a modern Bluetooth speaker—and that's exactly what makes it stand out.
The launch coincides with Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which arrives in theaters on July 17, 2026 and marks the first feature film ever shot entirely using IMAX cameras with newly developed IMAX technology. Klipsch and sister brand Onkyo are serving as the exclusive promotional audio partners for the film.
While the design is clearly aimed at collectors and movie enthusiasts, Klipsch didn't forget the audio.
Built on the Detroit platform, the speaker features dual 1-inch tweeters, dual 3-inch woofers, and four force-canceling passive radiators powered by 4 x 15 watts RMS of amplification. Klipsch says the system delivers rich, full-range sound with plenty of output for both indoor listening and outdoor gatherings.
The portable speaker is also built for travel with an IP67 rating, making it both dustproof and waterproof. It can survive submersion in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes, while a 20-hour battery should easily last through a weekend trip. Charging is handled through 18W USB-C, and reverse USB-C charging allows the speaker to double as a portable battery pack for compatible devices.
Wireless connectivity comes via Bluetooth 5.3, offering a range of up to 40 feet. Through the Klipsch Connect Plus app, users can adjust bass, mids, and treble, install firmware updates, and activate Broadcast Mode, which allows playback across more than ten compatible Klipsch speakers simultaneously.
At $499.99, this certainly isn't an impulse purchase for a portable Bluetooth speaker. But that's also not really the audience. Between the limited production run, distinctive design, and connection to what is shaping up to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of 2026, this feels more like a premium collectible that also happens to be a very capable wireless speaker.
For fans of Christopher Nolan, Klipsch, or physical movie memorabilia, this could end up being one of the more sought-after collaborations of the year.
