The Sony BRAVIA 8 is a well-rounded OLED TV that delivers excellent performance without the premium price of flagship models. While it's still a little on the pricier side, it provides the deep black levels and outstanding contrast OLEDs are known for, along with a range of calibrated modes for streaming services. Its color accuracy and impressive HDR performance make it a great option for both movie lovers and everyday viewing. With its blend of performance and value, the Sony BRAVIA 8 easily earns our AVS Top Choice for 2024.
The Sony Bravia 8 is a stunning option for anyone who loves to gorge on video content, particularly if it's in 4K. Despite not benefitting from proven brightness-boosting OLED technologies, Sony's new XR Processor has the brain power to eke more out of its 'standard' WOLED panel, to deliver beautifully natural images, complete with the inherent inky deep blacks. You will still need to control how much light is in your room to get the absolute most from it, but do so and you'll be well-rewarded with a fantastic performance from this mid-range TV.
Another impressive OLED TV from Sony with big appeal to home cinema fans. There are improvements to the Bravia 8’s picture, the design is more convenient and Google TV offers a slick smart experience; but this isn’t a big jump over the A80L. It could arguably do with a boost to brightness to compete with five-star models from LG and Philips.
The Sony BRAVIA 8 is amazing for mixed usage. The TV is suitable for use in a bright room due to its very good SDR brightness and outstanding reflection handling. However, it also looks remarkable in a dark room thanks to its nearly infinite contrast ratio, with highlights that stand out in HDR content due to its good HDR brightness. It also has a wide viewing angle that makes it a fantastic choice for watching TV with a group. The TV's nearly instantaneous response time means fast motion has no noticeable blur behind it, and its advanced gaming features make it an outstanding option if you're looking for a TV to pair with modern consoles.

A beautiful and powerful OLED TV, the Sony Bravia 8 brings to bear Sony’s full arsenal of the entertainment giant’s picture and gaming technologies. The result is largely positive, but its dim Professional mode and stiff, brighter competition hold the Bravia 8 back.
Despite the pandemic-driven boom in the consumption of OTT streaming content in India, I had held onto the belief that some movies are only meant to be experienced in movie theatres. As a consequence of this mindset, I would end up missing out on films because they were never distributed in the country or had disappeared from multiplexes before I could make time to watch them.
At $1,000, the Sony Bravia Theater 8 is starting to breathe some rarified air, and compared to the Arc, it does miss a couple of compelling features. The Arc is still a better buy here at $899, especially if you want to listen to music on your system. Sony lays a strong foundation for home theater fans who may not only want to upgrade their system later but also want a great-sounding system now.
I have the Bravia 8 WOLED 2024 model which I have had about 8 months or so
Beautiful picture in HDR! Sound is amazing
I have a couple of pet peeves that really bother me
The motion smoothing is horrible on this tv. I find myself always adjusting the motion flow settings constantly depending on what I’m watching. I seem not to be able to get rid of the blur or judder at the same time so I have to adjust everytime I change to different content. EI YouTube, Netflix cable box etc ?
As well the TV automatically dims after a minute or two. I have phoned Sony to see if there was a fix for this issue but engendering told me it is done on purpose to protect the OLED TV
First OLED I have ever purchased so it’s bitter sweet for me ?

The Bravia 8 is a nice television with some excellent high points, but some of the details feel less refined than I’ve come to expect from Sony.

Sony's Bravia 8 offers the perfect black levels expected of an OLED TV, but its picture quality falls short of justifying its high price.

The Bravia 8 is a refinement rather than a big step forward for Sony’s OLED TV offering – but it's still a great TV
