Sonos, the leader in sound experience, today announced a major overhaul of its mobile and web applications, introducing a customizable Home screen that consolidates content and controls from over 100 streaming services. The redesign prioritizes personalization, streamlined navigation, and a more intuitive user experience.

Key Features of the Redesigned Sonos App:

  • Unified Home Screen: Consolidates playlists, stations, albums, and other content from various streaming services into one customizable interface, eliminating the need to switch between tabs.
  • Enhanced System Controls: A simple swipe up from the Home screen provides access to a visual overview of the entire Sonos system, enabling quick adjustments to speaker grouping and volume levels.
  • Personalization and Curation: Users can tailor the Home screen to their preferences by pinning rows of favorite content and services, rearranging them to suit their listening habits.
  • Universal Search: A comprehensive search bar allows for searching artists, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks across all connected streaming services directly from the Home screen.
  • New Web App: A brand-new web application, accessible from any modern browser, replicates the seamless control and functionality of the mobile app, replacing the existing Sonos desktop controller.

Driving Innovation in Home Music Listening

"This redesign represents our commitment to constant innovation and our dedication to providing a better listening experience," said Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos. "The reimagined app raises the bar for home music listening and positions us to expand into new categories and experiences."

The app redesign is built on a modern software platform, enabling faster development cycles and more frequent updates to meet evolving user needs. The focus for the initial rollout is on improving reliability, performance, and quick access to music.

Sonos acknowledges user feedback and is actively working to address missing features and reported issues. The following enhancements are scheduled for upcoming updates:

    • Screen reader accessibility for visually impaired users.
