Boston-based Andover Audio has built a reputation for designing beautifully engineered vinyl playback systems that bridge the gap between lifestyle audio and true hi-fi. From the award-winning Andover-One to the ingenious SpinBase MAX, the company’s gear has consistently proven that simplicity and fidelity can coexist without compromise.
Now, Andover is extending that philosophy with the SpinPlay, a new all-in-one record player that brings high-quality analog sound to a wider audience. Compact, elegant, and built for everyday use, the SpinPlay distills decades of hi-fi expertise into a fully integrated vinyl system that’s ready to play the moment it’s out of the box.
“The SpinPlay is for vinyl fans who want the simplicity of an all-in-one system with true out-of-the-box hi-fi sound quality,” said Bob Hazelwood, Andover’s Director of Engineering and Product Development. “We have a well-established history of delivering reliable, award-winning sound from compact systems that are built to perform and built to last.”
Vinyl, Simplified—No Setup, No Stress
The SpinPlay is built for anyone who wants to enjoy vinyl without the fussy setup process that typically comes with turntables. Out of the box, the platter, belt, and tonearm are pre-installed and pre-balanced—no counterweight adjustment, cartridge alignment, or anti-skate tuning required. Simply plug it in, place a record on the platter, and drop the needle.
Andover designed the SpinPlay to be equally at home in a living room, dorm, or office. Its braced MDF enclosure, hardtop cover, and fabric-wrapped panels give it a classic yet contemporary look, while also making it durable enough for easy transport. For music lovers who want great sound on the move, the optional SpinPlay Go-Bag (coming Q1 2026) lets the system fit safely under an airline seat or in an overhead compartment—perfect for travel, vacation homes, or seasonal moves.
IsoGroove Technology: Silence in the Signal
At the heart of the SpinPlay is Andover’s IsoGroove® feedback elimination system, a patented technology originally developed for the company’s flagship Andover-One. IsoGroove isolates the stylus from vibrations produced by the built-in speakers—ensuring crystal-clear playback even at higher volumes. It’s the same innovation that’s helped Andover’s compact systems outperform traditional turntables paired with external speakers.
The SpinPlay also features Dual Direct Drive amplification, meaning each woofer and tweeter is powered by its own dedicated amplifier channel. This not only enhances clarity and separation but also ensures low distortion and a surprising amount of punch for a compact system.
Hi-Fi Sound in a Single Box
Despite its compact footprint, the SpinPlay delivers an expansive soundstage thanks to its 270° speaker array. Inside the enclosure are two 1.75" x 4" oval woofers and two 0.75" silk-dome tweeters, producing 20 watts per woofer and 15 watts per tweeter for a total system output that covers a 60Hz–20kHz frequency range.
The result is sound that feels far larger than the system itself—open, balanced, and detailed, with enough low-end warmth to make vinyl playback feel alive.
Precision Turntable Engineering
While many all-in-one record players rely on lightweight platters and generic cartridges, the SpinPlay is built like a true audiophile component. The 12-inch cast aluminum platter offers exceptional rotational stability and is paired with a precision belt-drive system and electronically governed DC motor for smooth, quiet operation. The 9-inch balanced aluminum tonearm uses precision ball bearings and a viscous-damped cueing mechanism for smooth drops.
It comes pre-fitted with an Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge, one of the most trusted moving-magnet designs for its combination of tracking accuracy and musicality. The tonearm also includes fully adjustable anti-skating to maintain consistent stylus alignment across the record’s surface.
Modern Connectivity Meets Analog Tradition
In addition to its internal phono stage, the SpinPlay includes Line, Optical Digital, and USB Flash Drive inputs, making it a versatile hub for both analog and digital playback. Bluetooth 5.0 support allows it to receive audio wirelessly from a phone or transmit to Bluetooth headphones or speakers—ideal for private listening.
The SpinPlay also integrates seamlessly with other Andover Spin products, including the SpinSub subwoofer ($379) and SpinStand ($269), which doubles as a record storage solution for up to 150 LPs.
Build Quality That Travels Well
Unlike most all-in-one turntables that feel disposable, the SpinPlay is built to last. Weighing in at 20.5 pounds (9.3 kg), its braced MDF enclosure and solid hardware make it feel like a genuine piece of hi-fi equipment rather than a novelty. Every element—from the rotary controls to the removable dust cover—has been engineered for longevity.
And for those who want to take their vinyl setup on the road, the optional Go-Bag accessory (arriving early 2026) adds padded protection and ergonomic handles for easy portability.
