Introduction

KEF has unveiled a new, more affordable member of its LS Wireless speaker collection: the LSX II LT. This streamlined version of the popular LSX II (94% CE Critic Score) speakers is designed for multimedia use, including music, movies, and games.

Design and Build

The LSX II LT speakers retain the same sleek and space-saving design as their predecessors, measuring 9.5 x 6.1 x 7.1 inches. Each speaker houses KEF's 11th-generation Uni-Q driver array, which promises a "perfectly timed performance." The Music Integrity Engine further enhances the sound quality by ensuring accurate timing and phase.

One key difference between the LSX II LT and the LSX II is the power output. The LSX II LT has a total output of 100 watts (70W for the low-frequency driver and 30W for the high-frequency driver), compared to 200 watts for the LSX II.

Connectivity

The LSX II LT offers a wide range of connectivity options, including:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • Chromecast
  • AirPlay 2
  • HDMI ARC
  • USB-C
  • Optical digital audio
  • Dedicated bass output for connecting a KEF subwoofer

There's also an ethernet port for a direct connection to your router for the fastest possible internet speeds and the delivery of PCM music files up to 24-bit/384kHz.

One notable omission is the 3.5mm AUX port found on the LSX II. This means that vinyl enthusiasts will need to use an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to connect their turntables to the LSX II LT.

Performance

KEF claims that the LSX II LT delivers "room-filling, natural, and accurate sound" thanks to the Uni-Q driver array and Music Integrity Engine. The speakers also support DSD and MQA decoding and up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution through the optical and USB-C inputs.

Early reviews of the LSX II LT have been positive, with critics praising its sound quality, connectivity options, and sleek design. However, some reviewers have noted that the bass response is not as powerful as the LSX II.

Verdict

The KEF LSX II LT is a compelling option for audiophiles looking for a compact, wireless speaker system with excellent sound quality and a wide range of connectivity options. However, the lack of a 3.5mm AUX port and the slightly weaker bass response compared to the LSX II are minor drawbacks to consider.

Overall, the KEF LSX II LT is a worthy addition to the LS Wireless speaker collection and is sure to appeal to a wide range of listeners. Available now for $999.99/Set.
